John 8:31 – 32 | John 14:63 John 1:3-4

Introduction:

We live in a world where what is true for one person may not be true for someone else. Culture encourages people to discover their own truth, make conclusions based on their personal experiences, and promotes the message that each person is entitled to create and live by their own set of truths. This is not according to the Bible. God’s word  helps us to discover and know God’s truth in the midst of dishonesty, miscommunication, and confusion in the broken world in which we reside.

So the question on everyone lips is what is the truth?  John 14:6 | John 1: 1-2. From these scriptures, the meaning of the word “Truth “ is not just a “what” but a “who”. The truth has a name and a face and that name is Jesus.

The world is constantly changing, but God remains the same.  Hebrews 13:8 His truth has endured the history of humanity and is still true and valid. The Bible says that Jesus is the truth, and that truth is found in who God is, the ways of God, and the world around us which declare the glory of God. The truth is rooted in Jesus who invites us into a relationship with Him. When we know Jesus, then we know the truth.  Romans 10:17.

The scriptures declares boldly that truth is tightly bound to God. God is the God of truth Psalm 31:5. Jesus is the truth as in John 14:6.  The Spirit is described as the Spirit of truth that was sent to guide believers. John 16:13. Truth is found within all three persons of the Trinity, and truth is found in the word of God. John 17:17.

The truth is our Lord Jesus Christ. And we must endeavour to know this truth and this truth will set us free. When we are truly born again by God’s Spirit, we are certain that we are eternally saved. When we receive the Lord Jesus as Saviour and become Christ’s followers, we are to always seek God’s approval above man’s approval. When we share the truth of the word of God with unbelievers, we are to rely on the Holy Spirit to enable them to receive the message of Salvation.

Conclusion

Truth sanctifies us; making us holy and set apart. Truth sets us free; no longer bound by sin, death, and lies. Biblical truth does not change over time, it does not trend, and it cannot become less true. Biblical truth is not dependent on anyone believing it to be the truth. Truth is what we find in Scripture, truth is who God is, truth is the way of God, and truth is ultimately that which aligns with who God is and what He does.
